Finn Rhys was a normal kid, popular, rich parents, good grades, and a clear plan for the future. Everything changed when he got drunk at a party and kissed another boy in his class, not to mention it got video taped and quickly went viral. He didn't care at first, it was all a big joke and didn't matter much. Then people started making fun of him, and the leader of it was the boy he kissed, insisting Finn had come onto him. Suddenly without any friends he finds peace in the internet, a girl named Sylvia tells him the world isn't what he thinks it is. She convinces him to join an online chatroom called Suicide Room, full of people who wanted to die. Quickly he became engrossed in the people and their sad stories, he followed their advice and stopped going to school, and didn't leave his room for 10 days. His parents were so busy with work they didn't know and his caretaker couldn't contact them. Finn's caretaker got scared and called the police, they busted down the door of his room to find him with bloody arms and legs. He was taken to the hospital and out of the custody of his parents. He refused to see them or talk to them.

Since he was already 18 once his wounds healed he was free to go, he convinced them to prescribe him medication. The first night out of the hospital he went to a club and overdosed on the pills, getting drunk. He realized he was going to die when he thew up blood, and knew he wanted to live, though it was too late.
