Jehanne born and lived during the era of the Hundred Years War and, at the command of God, she gave her life in his service to resolve it. Though she died before the deed was done and the war was won she laid the groundwork that would result in the conflict’s resolution.
Jehanne was born to Jacques d’Arc & Isabelle Romee who were peasant farmers in the providence of Domremy in 1412. She received her first vision calling her to the front despite her age and gender roles at the time. During her short lifespan the talented young Paragon rallied the ill-fortuned French forces to key victories. Most notably breaking the Siege of Orleans for which she is named.
Jehanne was both ardent and devout, characteristics that she carried with her on the battlefield. She favored aggressive strikes that were considered reckless in comparison to the cautious tactics of other military leaders. And honorable to a fault, she remained on the field of battle to the last, a fact which resulted in her capture, and eventually, her death. Tried for heresy in a politically motivated trial she was burnt at the stake upon conviction.
After her death Jehanne is still a young devoutly vigorous woman but inside exists a brooding regret for the past, for what was lost and never would be. | |
