To The Ocean

Reeve nodded a little his eyes dull and glazed over with a mixture of sleepiness and illness, his pale face was flushed pink due to the fever and he felt warm them cold a lot which caused him to shift around "Kay..." He muttered softly as he wrapped his arms around the other weakly and cuddled him; it was touch and go throughout most of the night but as dawn broke, the fever finally broke and Reeve eventually settled into a deep sleep.

Reid was more than glad when Reeve's temperature seemed to even out and his breathing rate returned to normal. He wanted to sleep too but wouldn't be able to live with himself if anything happened while he was out, so he force himself to stay awake and wait until the other woke up for good.

"No, you're the one who needs to sleep more." He looked into Reeve's red eyes and smiled. They really were pretty. "Don't worry about me." Reid shifted and pulled the other closer. "Go back to sleep."

The brunette wanted to roll his eyes at the others stubborn behaviour but he supposed he couldn't fault the other for just trying his pest to keep them together and to protect them thankfully this place was quiet serene even and a far cry form the volcanic arias of the divide. "Fine...but your just gonna be exhausted again" He mumbled as he rolled over a little and curled up with a shiver under the furs.

"Id rather be a little tired than you be sick." He knew their time of peace probably wouldn't last much longer so he enjoyed it while he could, trying his best to keep Reeve warm in the chilly air.

he tried to keep awake, he really did bit he did wind up falling asleep again those tome with his face buried into the others stomach, his fingers gripping into the others shirt a bit as he settled into an uneasy sleep. by the rim the sun rise again he was still feeling groggy and achy but the worst of his fever seemed to be over.

Reid pet Reeve's hair and smiled. If only they didn't meet in these circumstances, could they have had a normal relationship? What? He shook himself out of his thoughts, he didn't even know if Reeve liked men, much less him.

being raised as an Irish Catholic the concept of homosexuality would have been scandalous, he would have been beaten of not killed for such behaviour, but because of his hectic life and the fact he died young held never found love with anyone if either gender so it was still pretty open and up in the air for him. Reid forced himself to sit up a bit, that alone made him feel dizzy and he slumped agasitn the others chest with a soft groan "Morning" He mumbled softly.

"…morning. Don't force yourself to get up if you're still tired." There seemed to be no danger in the area so Reid was more relaxed than he probably should have been.

"I'm fine...I slept enough" He said as he dragged the waterskien to him and uncurled it before taking a swig of water "You should sleep too...you look exhausted, even got bags under your eyes" He said as he reached out and touched the others face "Go and sleep I'll be okay now...think the worst of all this is over" He said softly; he;d have to be more careful from now on to not injure himself.

"…fine." Reid gave in, but only because he was about to fall asleep anyways. "don't let me sleep too long." He leaned against the tree and closed his eyes, falling asleep in no time.

Reeve him lie down and looked out to the ocean; it was really peaceful here; he liked it, may be he could build a home here one day maybe even make a village once they gathered enough resources; it;d be hard to make shelter with just the two of them especially with him injured but they had to try, he wasn't sure if any other humans had settled down and made a village if their own yet and so far a large majority of this planet was untouched by humans, animals dominated where ever they went...except for here and he had no doubts the creatures under the water could be vicious as well.

Reid eventually awoke with a groan, he yawned and stretched, seeing Reeve looking at the ocean he smiled. "Whats the plan? We build a camp here?" He knew Reeve liked the ocean, plus it was far safer than any other place that had been to so far, not to mention peaceful. Even in this crazy world he hoped they could make some kind of community, more people were bound to come along eventually,right?

Reeve glanced at him and smiled a bit "It might be a start, after all the chaos we went though to get this far a bit of stability will do us both some good, its nice out here, I'm sure there's dangerous creatures in the water but i might be able to deal with them" He said with a nod "I guess we'll have to get supplies if were going to make an actual shelter this time around"

The bird overhead dipped downward, landing in the trees behind them, a pause before another bird appeared also following it in the dive to the forest, both birds were massive one carrying a figure. Moments pass before the figure appear a small girl, her voice timid a deep injury on her arm festering and infected. her skin was pale causing her to shine in the light as she approached Reeve and Reid getting near thirty feet before stopping. "Are you the men that were attacked by a T-rex?" The girl calls, her voice had very little emotion in it sounding almost robotic. She held her arm with her other hand. She wore leather skins around her body, even though it was very poorly made it did cover her skin quite well, she also wore a small bag around her waist that was heavily weighted. Behind the young girl a large bird peeked into view, however keeping its distance and was undefinable even though its presences was completely known.

Reid was more than stunned when a girl appeared from behind the trees, he didn't recognize her from the group they woke up with but even with her obvious injury he didn't trust her. "Yes, we are. Why do you want to know?" He had to find out her intentions before he made any assumptions.

Reeve was instantly concerned about the girls injury, but after all that had happened and all they had seen he was also weary about trusting her and he wasn't willing to be fooled again, slowly he got to his feet "What is it you want from us?" He asked softly though his focus was on the birds behind her; he'd never seen such creatures before, but they didn't seem aggressive more curious than anything; slowly he approached her though he made sure not to get too close in case she or her birds attacked.

As he approached the girl made no indication that she was going to run more or even showed a hint of fear, standing her ground however not defensively merely there like a tree or shrub living aimlessly. "My master has sent me to give you a message." She suddenly took a step back, the birds flinch in the distance but they remain far away. "Master said you have a grace period, now that he is settled in his location he said you have three days before he begins attempting to kill you." The girl gave an awkward twitch, still staring at them, waiting for their replies obviously still on command.

Reeve blinked at her before looking to Reid; it seems their plan to stay here wouldn't be such a good idea after all, it seems they only had a few days before her master, probably another avatar; was after them again "I won't even bother asking why he wants to kill us, still don't understand this whole champion of the avatars thing...but thank you for the warning I suppose...anything else you wish to say?"

Reid stood and grabbed Reeve's wrist, pulling him away from the girl, he didn't trust he and didn't want Reeve to get too close. "If that's all you have to say than go." She had ruined their moment of peace and scared him, he saw the avatar and didn't want anything like it coming near them again.

Reeve was more focused on the birds than the girl; birds like that if he could convince them to help them would be pretty useful from travelling from place to place. Reeve glanced at the other, he could tell the other was scared and he stepped back when the other prompted to but he kept an eye on the other bird; the one the girl didn't fly, before he cupped on hand to his mouth and began going through various bird calls to see if there were any the other would connect with while remaining eye contact with it.

The girl nods to Reid, accepting that they have acknowledged what she said and turned around waving her hand to the birds. Both of them flew from their hiding spots revealing their secrets, the one first to arrive was a massive eagle, its menacing eyes stared at Reeve listening to the bird calls however it did not budge, it showed its wounds proudly, its throat being completely torn open. The second one arrived much slower and was far more gruesome. The bird landed its bone structure was able to be seen in several places including its stomach and skull, it looked as if it was completely gutted having a massive blood encrusted cut down its neck all the way to its feet. The bird itself had some resemblance to a chicken, its head had a beak and a ravaged plume atop it, however the rest of its body was built for flying, a sleek figure with curved wings gave it amazing dexterity in the air. "Three days." The figure mutters before hopping on the eagle and soars off into the sky, not a single connection was made with the birds for the had no mind of their own, "Home." The chicken like bird said out loud as if repeating the order swooping off after the Eagle carrying their grim messager.

Reeve was shocked to see the animals in such a state but when he could hear no thought from them nor could he reach out and communicate with them, he made a guess that they were undead or worse controlled by someone else like a puppet on a string. He watched as they left the girl leaving with them and he looked to Reid " guess staying here isn't an option right now, we should keep moving, see if we can find other humans that aren't as...crazy" he said with a sigh.

Reid visibly realized when the girl left, he didn't care that the birds didn't react as long as they didn't attack. He looked at Reeve as he spoke, "I agree…lets get moving then." There was no reason for them to stay any longer, he picked up the things they had left by the tree, the canteen and the chimera fur, and started off down the beach. "Sorry we couldn't stay here…" He knew Reeve liked the beach and couldn't help but feel down about having to leave too.
