To The Ocean

Reeve looked back at the shore sadly and sighs a little; he did enjoy this place and he hoped in time maybe they could make a place of their own out there but right now they simply had no time. He nodded a little at that and gathered up their things, he was still sensitive to the chills because he was recovering from his fever "It's okay...it's no your fault" He said softly "We'll come back here someday make a place of our own" He promised with a faint smile before he took the others hand in his and leaned against the other a bit "Let's go" He said softly as he began walking, not even sure where they would wind up next.

Reid blushed when Reeve held his hand, did he…? No, he probably just…his hand was cold, that was all, Reid convinced himself. He squeezed the hand back and continued walking. It was crazy how much had happened in…three days? It felt like years, he wished that e could have a cigarette, he was starting to have minor withdrawal symptoms and just crazed something to keep his thoughts occupied.

To reeve who was about as romantically dumb as a dead platypus and grew up with older siblings hand holding didn't bother him all he found it a comforting gesture, a reminder that he wasn't entirely alone; while he missed Maria a lot he was glad Reid was here or he might go insane.

They walked for hours, stopping at the river to fill up their canteen and following it back upstream into the trees, after a while Reid saw what looked like…houses? He picked up the pace, still holding onto Reeve's hand. "Do you see that Reeve?" He hoped he wasn't seeing things and it wasn't some kind of mirage.

Reeve had no idea to go in a sense they were simply wandering Reeve managed to communicate with some bird who claimed they had seen beings like them further east for where they were and so they headed that way for hours they found nothing until they spotted smoke on the horizion and houses. Reeve pinched himself before he nodded "I see them...and its not a dream" He said with a smile "Come on lets head down there maybe Maria is here"

He ran, gripping Reeves hand with a huge smile. This was what they had been searching for, they would be safe, with whoever lived there, they lived in the crazy world, so they would be able to protect them.

Reeve grinned as he ran after him, in truth he couldn't wait to meet the other humans that had survived and he hoped to work with them to accomplish great things, and if not it would grant them respite from thinking of their time limit.
